Senior Program Officer, Mozilla Foundation

Lisa Gutermuth is a Senior Program Officer at the Mozilla Foundation, where she has been working with the Data Futures Lab since 2022. The Lab funds new approaches to how data is stewarded and governed. She has served on selection committees for Mozilla’s funds, including the 2024 Mozilla Technology Fund round on AI and Environmental Justice, and argues that efforts to fix the data economy need more investment and community building to succeed. Before Mozilla she was Program Manager at Ranking Digital Rights, which ranks tech and telecom companies on their freedom of expression and privacy commitments. Before that she was a project coordinator at Tactical Technology Collective in Berlin, working mostly on digital security projects such as Security in-a-box and on using open data for citizen-led advocacy and OSINT (open-source intelligence). She was also an associated researcher at the Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society (HIIG) in Berlin. She holds a master’s from Humboldt University of Berlin and a bachelor’s from the University of New Hampshire.
