Mallory Knodel is a technologist and human-rights advocate advancing internet infrastructure and emerging tech governance in service of free expression, privacy, right to protest and right to information, as well as economic, social and cultural rights. She co-chairs the Human Rights Protocol Considerations research group at the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) and advises civil society organizations, UN bodies, governments, and companies on aligning tech standards, regulation and human rights. Mallory founded the Social Web Foundation and the Internet Exchange weekly newsletter. She is a PhD researcher focused on censorship resistance and encryption.
