Head of Digital Security, Reporters Without Borders
Nicolas Diaz is a French IT security enthusiast. He studied linguistics until 1995 before becoming passionate about the internet and its wonders. Nicolas turned to webmastering, completely self-taught. In 1999, within the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH), he was trained by a French Navy system and network engineer. He then worked for the FIDH.org NGO for more than 15 years. During that time, he trained human rights defenders and journalists from countries all over the world to improve the security of their communications.
He was also a Community Manager for YesWeHack from 2016 to 2019. Between 2020-22, he was in charge of communications and Blueteam/Redteam training director for an independent cyber security company based in Brest: DIATEAM.
Since 2023 he is the Head of Digital Security and operations at Reporters without Borders.
Nicolas Diaz is a fervent promoter of open source and free software as an ally of human rights defenders, security and sustainability.
